As for the USS Oklahoma & USS Batfish Amateur Radio Club will be operating special event stations starting at 0000 UCT June 6 from the Muskogee War Memorial & Park, Muskogee, OK. These stations are in connection with Museum Ships Weekend, a special event sponsored by the USS New Jersey Amateur Radio Station, held the first full weekend of each June.
Operations on 80, 40, & 20 meter HF voice & CW, satellite, and PSK32 are planned as well as attempts 160M as well as 15 & 10M.
The club will be operating from the radio room and galley on board the USS Batfish, a World War II submarine. The call sign for those stations will be WW2SUB. In honor of the battleship USS Oklahoma, we will also operate stations from the Museum, itself, under the call WW2OK. We are able to do this because there is a piece of a fire control mast from the USS Oklahoma, that was recovered from the bottom of the Pacific Ocean
We welcome all contacts, and any visitors during this event. If you come to the park to visit, look for the antenna(s) at the south end of the property. Operations will probably shut down somewhere around 1600-1800 UCT on June 8. All contacts will be acknowledged with a QSL card upon receipt of a request, including a SASE.
Thanks to Mitch Hull, KE5HWW
Secretary, USS Oklahoma & USS Batfish Amateur Radio Club
