Field Day tour 2016 #ARRLFD #ARRL #hamradio

Bobby Henry, N5QY, joined your section manager on a tour of the eastern half of the State to see field day sites.

The map reflected the plan.  Some sites were picked up enroute.  Others were closed before the team arrived.

Lessons learned from the trip included:

1.  Invite your section leadership early to your Field Day effort.  K5EMS visited some of the clubs in the north central part of the State.  Oklahoma City and Tulsa areas were handled by WA9AFM and N5NJK and N7XYO. Thanks to these volunteers who love the best hobby on the Planet.

2.  Use the ARRL Field Day Locator.  Adding callin frequency is good but please remember to have the frequency monitored for call as well as the phone number and email addresses.

3.  Follow expected visitors on Automatic Packet Reporting System, if they use it.  You might pick up an extra visitor, if you invite them.

4.  Your section is doing some amazing things.  Ed, W5CVE reported he is doing remote instruction in Technician, General, and Extra class courses.  Ask him how he does it.  The Tulsa Digital Radio Club did all-digital, all-QRP operation.  Ask them how they did.  More and more clubs are aligned with or supporting emergency managmenet operations.  Ask them how their Safety Officer points went.

In addition to the visits, your Section Manager was interviewed by W5KUB and the QSO Radio Show.

How was your Field Day experience?
