Tour DeMeers help wanted #ARRL #hamradio

Meers --- Area amateur radio operators are being asked to volunteer for the annual Tour DeMeers Bike Ride scheduled for May 24, according to Justin Holder, KB7CSW, from Lawton.

"We will be using the Automatic Packet Reporting System (APRS)," he said.  "Due to the location of some parts of some of the routes, hams equipped with mobile radios are needed for the event."

The APRS system allows resources to be tracked on a map at the command post.  It also allows for text messaging between units equipped with the devices.

Tour DeMeers is a fundraiser for the Meers Fire Department.
