#HamHoliday has a new location

The Tower Hotel In NW Oklahoma City is the new venue for Ham Holiday 2017.

Go to http://www.towerhoteloklahomacity.com/ for information on the 'Tower'.  Located on the Northwest Expressway and just east of I-44/Hefner Parkway, the 'Tower' is easily accessed from the NW Expressway coming from the east or west.

The exhibit hall is 10,000 sq ft; we'll be using around 8,500 this year....and the A/C works.  The seminar rooms are collocated with the exhibit hall.

Parking for +1,000 cars; dedicated entrance to the convention area lobby; large pre-event area; easy access from unloading area to the exhibit hall.

We'll be posting photos on the Ham Holiday website with more visual detail of the new venue.

We are inviting several 'food trucks' from the OKC area to be at HH on Saturday from 8 AM to 2 PM.
There are several eateries within walking and short driving distance of the 'Tower'.

Parks and Ham Radio

The link is to contact information and the permit application you can download.

I know that this was talked about last year so some hams may not know that a permit is required for amateur radio operations on Mt. Scott and in the refuge.

See  the webpage for the different types of passes.

Active duty military is free. If you have a permanent disability, you can apply for a lifetime Access pass. Seniors over the age of 62 can apply for a Senior pass.

You can download the pass information and mail it in.

Thanks to Ron, W5MPY for this information.

FAA Extension, Safety and Security Act of 2016

Dear ARRL Members in Oklahoma:

Recently, one of your US Senators, James Inhofe, has been active in working with ARRL to address concerns in the “FAA Extension, Safety and Security Act of 2016” that placed tower marking and painting requirements on “short” amateur towers.  ARRL staff and volunteers have been working with Senator Inhofe’s staff to develop amended provisions to the bill which would protect amateur towers from these stringent standards.

We are asking you to please contact Senator Inhofe’s office to thank him for his work on behalf of this effort. To easily send a “thank you” note, you may use ARRL’s RallyCongress tool, where a letter has been preloaded.

To access this site, simply go to this address and fill in the form. After that, simply click the “Send Letter” button to send your message on its way to his office.

Thanks for your assistance in this important effort!
