HELP WANTED: Bike MS - Amateur Radio support #ARRL #hamradio

Amateur Radio Clubs/Groups in Western Oklahoma - Your help is needed,

Amateur Radio Support is needed for the 2016 Bike MS.
For this community event HAMs provide communications support at all rest stops and with SAG wagon support vehicles along the two day route.  In past years the Tulsa Repeater Organization has provided for communication and SAG support for this event.

**This year with the event being west of I-35 we're asking for Amateur Radio Clubs in the west to provide the support for this community event.

What would be ideal is for one or two the ARCs in the western portion of Oklahoma to take the lead in providing communication support for this community event. This has been a fun and rewarding public service project for radio amateurs.

FOR HAM volunteers Bike MS will provide:
Bike MS is offering fuel reimbursement for the event (sorry, not travel to/from event), and meals Saturday and Sunday during the event, as well as an event t-shirt. If you plan to help both days; Overnight lodging accommodations can be made on your own, or you can contact Kenneth Baucum, KG5CBM (info below), for details on two rooms being offered on Saturday night in Guthrie. There could be additional rooms available as well, at a discounted rate on Saturday night.

If your club and can help please contact:
Kenneth Baucum KG5CBM918-271-1435 for an introduction to the event coordinator.  (Planning is underway now, please reply soon as you can):

What's a SAG Wagon?
The origins of the term "sag wagon" are a topic for debate. Some cyclists believe that it is an acronym for "Support and Gear" or "Support Aid Group." Others suggest that it may be related to distressed or weary cyclists "sagging", or trailing behind the pack. A SAG wagon takes the form of a large, sturdy van or pick up truck  Most rides, the SAG trails slightly behind, keeping an eye on the cyclists and picking up stragglers who may need a brief break from the open road.
